Drop/Activator Techniques

The Thompson Drop Technique / The Activator Technique

The Thompson Drop Technique utilizes specific tables that drop or give way to provide a mechanical advantage, enabling the movement of one joint to pass another. It is a reassuring process, not an uncomfortable procedure and prevents accidental over manipulation.  The Thompson Drop technique is safe and effective on discs and arthritic joints as it does not provide any rotation to the joint put instead keeps them in a neutral position throughout the adjustment.

The Activator Technique utilizes a spring-loaded device to tap or nudge a joint, gently and very accurately. Most patients describe the activator humorously as the "clicker" or "popper" because of the sound it creates.
